HVDC OWF Resonance Stability Analysis

RTEi International, in partnership with The National HVDC Centre (GB), has been chosen by Carbon Trust for the Offshore Wind Accelerator programme, focusing on Resonance Stability Analysis in HVDC-connected Offshore Wind Farms (OWFs).

The growing complexity of electrical grids, driven in part by the large-scale integration of HVDC-connected offshore wind farms (OWFs), necessitates a reassessment of interconnection methodologies and technical requirements to ensure power system stability. This project seeks to identify and define critical factors related to resonance and other frequency-domain interactions. It will explore key methodologies, processes, and analyses to demonstrate their role in mitigating resonance and instability challenges associated with OWF connections, such as designing offshore HVDC damping control.

The HVDC Centre is leading work packages 1 & 2 and providing support to the other work packages led by RTEi.
