Coordinated Offshore Design for Wind and Network Reinforcement for an international TSO

The National HVDC Centre is working with an internation TSO to provide expert advice on their proposed HVDC offshore network designs. This is focusing on the proposal for a new HVDC multiterminal network to connect offshore wind to the system and transported the power to the load centres across the country.

This project is building on the work we are undertaking in Aquila and providing technical advice on the protection and control of the design. Leading to a review and advice on the specification for HVDC assets to meet the TSOs needs.

The project is also providing recommendation on the area of their national Grid Code that may need revision. Including advice on HVDC codes, Multi terminal codes and offshore network codes.
