SETTLE – Managing Inverter-based Oscillations

SETTLEis an innovation project funded under Ofgem’s Network Innovation Allowance (NIA). The project aims to address some of the stability challenges posed by the increasing penetration of renewable energy. SETTLE follows on from work delivered in the INSIGHT Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) project and aims to develop and evaluate new methods to detect, trace and manage inverter-based oscillations to enhance the stability and reliability of our power system.

The HVDC Centre are working with colleagues from SSEN Transmission, as well as three project partners: Imperial College London, University of Strathclyde and BVM Systems.

Work started in January 2025 and is expected to last 36 months.
