The Centre’s team attended IET’s ACDC Conference 2019 in Coventry.
At the ACDC2019 conference, The National HVDC Centre delivered a tutorial on the practical use of real-time simulation, introduced the open-assess converter models developed in collaboration with Strathclyde University and shared lessons learnt from the provision of commissioning support to the Caithness-Moray HVDC transmission project. Also, HVDC Centre staff had robust engagements with HVDC project developers, owners and equipment manufacturers who visited the exhibition stand hosted by the Centre and initiated discussions on potential areas for future collaboration, hence enhancing the viability of the Centre.
Here is what Simulation Engineer, Ian Cowan had to say:
Really enjoyed attending the IET’s ACDC conference. There were so many interesting presentations discussing the challenges and solutions facing DC technology. Meeting all the people in the industry both well established and new was a particular highlight. Looking forward to working with them all in the future and seeing how the industry develops.
On a personal note, I thoroughly enjoyed presenting my first IET paper and engaging with the discussions that it sparked off.
